Soo... What's a Tundra Buggy?

The Polar Bears International (PBI) team of scientists and educators will spend Monday - Friday every week living aboard Tundra Buggy One. Buggy One was the original Tundra Buggy that was used for tourists. It is owned by Frontiers North Adventures, a company that specializes in eco-tours in Churchill.

In support of PBI, it was retired from the tourist fleet and outfitted with special cameras and communication technology to enable the development of the the Polar Bear Cam and Tundra Connections Programs.

During the day, the PBI team is out on the Tundra in Tundra Buggy One where they do the Tundra Connections broadcasts. At night they dock with the Tundra Buggy Lodge where the team has access to a hot meal and showers.

Guests who stay at the Tundra Lodge, are also out all day long on the tourist Tundra Buggies and return to the lodge at night. Tundra Buggy One also serves as a backup or emergency vehicle in case of a tourist Tundra Buggy breakdown out on the tundra.
